Jacob Hamlin is a Midwest-based trumpet player currently pursuing a Master of Music at Indiana University. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University, where he performed in a variety of large ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Big Band. He was also active in chamber music, performing with groups including the Orpheus Brass Trio, Trumpet Choir, and various brass quartets and quintets.
Beyond his collegiate ensembles, Jacob has performed with organizations including the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Alluvion Big Band, Mid-Michigan Brass Band, Alma College Big Band, and Jazz Ensemble of Mid-Michigan. He has also performed in musical theater productions including Young Frankenstein, Into the Woods, and Spamalot, as well as performed and competed at both the National Trumpet Competition and the International Trumpet Guild Conference.
In addition to his performance career, Jacob has a particular interest in brass instruments, frequently performing on a variety of unique and historic instruments in recording projects and creating media to showcase them. He also designs and sells 3D-printed trumpet mutes.
